Brunch time

It was very nice of Claire to invite us all over for Mother's Day brunch. You don't see Daniel in this photo, but he has become the youngest Canadian in our community here. Oskar to my right, is his older brother and the proud parents Vlad and Mira are in the background. I guess I have to get used to not being the baby anymore.

Motherless Day

Since mommy was away for Mother's day and Aunt Bernie was away from her kids, we looked after each other. We all went to Claire's house for a brunch, which included a swim in her pool.

Senior Nadin

As in a typical Cuban paladar, I got to meet the cook and check out the kitchen. The only difference in this case is that the cook was my Canadian friend, Nadin.

Dining with the Adults

Daddy & I had dinner at our friends', Nadin & Michelle's house. Silly Daddy forgot my high chair (Mommy never would have forgotten that) and so I got to eat like an adult in a big adult chair. I may have been sitting in the adult chair but I didn't eat like one as there was food everywhere by the end. It was tasty though!

Down I go!

This ramp might be useful for wheelchair access, but for me it was a way to pick up top speed and gather forward momentum. The challenge was in not falling on my face. With mommy not around, there was noone telling me to slow down.

Sunset at the Marina

With Mommy back in Canada, Daddy and I went to the Marina Hemingway to see if we could see her from the coast. Unfortunately, even when Daddy put me on his shoulders, I couldn't see her. Hopefully she'll back be soon.

Bread Head

You thought the French could make a mean baguette. Check out what the Cubans eat! Now if only I could get some good camembert to go with this.

Zampone

With the piano out of tune, I've turned to playing the Andean zampone flute. The one Daddy bought in Peru is almost as tall as I am, but I'm pretty good at whistling a tune.

Face-off

With the Stanley Cup playoffs in full swing, I decided to get into the action with our new air hockey table. I'm missing some players but I still dropped the puck.

Pre-ballet BBQ

Everyone else is dressed up because they were going to see a Flamenco Ballet at el Teatro Nacional. I didn't have to go though so I could make the biggest mess I wanted. So what do you think of our patio?

Don't forget the tip!

Mommy & Daddy say that one of the best things about Cuban restaurants is the babysitting which is provided by the servers. When I've finished my meal, I can go off and get a tour of the restaurant with the waitress while the others finish their meal. It helps that I'm cute!

Bon Appetit

One of the best Paladars that we have been to here in Havana, the name says it all. If you bring an appetite, it will be well looked after. I was well looked after too by the staff as they took
me back into the kitchen while everyone else was finishing their meals. They need to work on their language nuances though. This was not French but actually an Italian restaurant.

Ocean's 3

It's not quite the Ottawa River, but the water here at the Eastern Beaches is certainly blue enough for us. Opa & Daddy were having a good time tossing me about in the air. Even though it's looks sparse, the beaches actually filled up on this fine Friday. When you have this weather, it's hard to stay in the office.

Eastern Beaches

Daddy played hooky on this day and we all went to the Eastern Beaches 20 minutes outside of Havana. Yet another beautifully sunny day. Here Opa is showing me how to build a sand castle. He's not good at it because he's from the Swiss mountains and is more used to snow.

Storytime

I do love Storytime but in this shot you can see that Daddy is a little more into the story than I am. If there's not enough photos, I get bored of his talking away in a hurry.

El Capitoleo

I decided to take Grandma & Opa sightseeing in Havana. I even made them push me around in my stroller. This building you see in the background was built in the 1920's and was modelled after the Capitol building in Washington DC. There was a time when the US had a big influence here. By the way, it was Opa that put those socks on me. They weren't even mine!!!

El Aljibe

If you want the finest chicken in Cuba, this is the place. If you want the finest beans and rice, this is also the place. Since I come for the bread, the papas and the plantains, maybe this isn't the place. But with the easygoing atmosphere, it's sure great for someone my age.

Fondue Fun

This was only my 3rd or 4th fondue, but everyone else was saying that this is the first time they've ever eaten fondue wearing shorts, after a day at the beach and watching the Senators in the playoffs. Only in Cuba!!!

Cheese Please!

Nothing beats coming in from a day at the beach in plus 30 degrees than a steamy hot cheese fondue. Can you say apres-water-ski? Here's Daddy showing me all about the Burger Swiss tradition.

Weary Travellers

Grandma and I were clearly worn out from our adventure to Soroa. We managed to just escape the thunderstorm and arrived back in Havana just as the clouds opened up. Not that we noticed...

3 + 1

Daddy has been hinting for some time that there will be a change in the family sometime soon. I'm not exactly sure what he means, but Mommy keeps pointing at her belly and asking me "where the baby is". Some of you may be able to guess what they mean when you look at my Mommy's belly in this photo.

Soroa Falls

I wouldn't go so far as to say these are comparable to Niagara Falls (not that I've been there yet) but this waterfall in Soroa was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. Daddy took me right up to the falls on my own personal "Daddy on the Mist".

Marley Jr?

Mommy tried her very best to convince Daddy that Marley needed a little friend. She even picked out a little perrito who was so very cute. However, Daddy said that there will be enough changes in the near future and he doesn't need someone else to look after. Not sure what that meant......

La Cascada

In Soroa, there is an awesome water fall up in the mountains with a little pool at the bottom that you can swim in. Not the warmest water but a very tranquil spot. It took me awhile to get comfortable with all the rocks around, but Daddy did a good job of crossing the rocks to get into the pool.

Prisoner

It stopped raining for a little while but it was still frustrating strapped onto Daddy's back. I had to look everywhere he looked and go everywhere he went. Considering he didn't know anything about orchids, I would have been much better off on Mommy's back. As usual, though, she was too busy taking photographs.

Single Umbrella

I was having a blast in Soroa, enjoying the beautiful orchid gardens until it started to rain. Daddy pulled out the umbrella but as you can tell here, he was concerned with keeping himself dry and I got soaked hanging off his back. I was trapped and being rained on.

Soup's On

Daddy was giving me a lesson on protocol from his "Foreign Affairs" training. I wonder if I should tell him that he's showing me what not to do. Then he amost "ate the bowl".

Follow the Leader

It's kind of neat having an older friend around to lead the way. I can learn lots of things from Colin. It's preparing me to be a big brother, just in case Mommy & Daddy have any news.

All Aboard!

Since my buddy Colin was trying out my car for the 1st time, I let him drive while I called shotgun. Colin is about 16 months older than me, so his steering is a little bit better anyways.
