Cutting Costs

With the airlines charging full fare for children over the age of two, we had to find a new way to save on these ticket costs. Here's a good way, even if not approved by the International Airways Authorities.

Exhausted observers

It's tough visiting the zoo on the hottest day of the year in Canada. Especially for Grandma who's not used to the heat of Cuba.

Am I seeing Stripes?

The last time we saw zebras was in Cuba on a safari. Now I see them in Canada. This is the last time I believe the geography books that say that zebras are from the African savannah. Maybe school isn't that useful.

Tongue lashing

Alright, alright, the first antelope to not stick his tongue gets the carrot. What kind of a zoo is this in Eastern Ontario? Who taught these animals how to behave properly?

Couple of Donkeys

Actually, there are donkeys, I'm not referring to my younger brother and cousin. They needed some nourishment.

Yeah, I can see that that is gravel. What would you like me to do with it?

Uncle Mark

Cousin Abigail got to spend some good quality time with her Uncle Mark over the summer. With us being in the Caribbean, it isn't too often we could just hang out like this.

Bad Timing

If you don't the approach just right, Diego will sting you in the face with a water blow. Who's next to face the challenge? Abby? Sam?

Diego Shower

Once again, it's Diego to the rescue. But his mission is to cool off these brothers.

Thirsty?

Always the good hostess, Abigail ensures little Ben quenches his thirst after some good fun in the water pool.

What about me?

With Darius and I having birthdays only 3 weeks apart, I'm sure there will be many parties like this where we get to share the festivities. I just hope it means 2 cakes and 2 sets of prizes.

Mentor

I don't get to spend that much time with my cousin Sam so when I do I have to make sure I'm teaching him everything I know.

Bubbles

While this may be Darius' 2nd birthday party, I was still part of the center stage. Besides, I have to perfect my craft so I can teach the young ones.

Escapee

After being doused with water, it seems that all Soren wants to do is escape into the great beyond of the park behind Opa and Grandma's house. A few more years before he can scale that fence.

Who did it?

It didn't matter what it was that was done, but you can

always blame your brother.

Choppies

There are many ways to eat noodles, but from my little experience, this is the only way to do it right. And yes, I taught myself.

Sr. Noodles

There is nothing so good as eating Mr. Noodles without the utensils. The fork doesn't twist it well enough, the chopsticks are a little advanced, let's just get in there and get 'er down.

Open air shower

Perhaps Canada is not as developped as we've read about in the Cuban textbooks. Here we are forced to shower in outdoor tubs without running water.

Where are you guys?

I hear you 3 but I can't see you. Silly Daddy had no idea we were just one row over. He kept calling and calling but just couldn't place us.

3 Lost Souls

Wandering aimlessly round and round and round, cousins Soren,
Sam and Darius appear to still be searching for the meaning of life.

Grab my hand, I know the way. It's this way as there doesn't appear to be any other way.

AMAZEing

This was absolutely cool. We've seen mazes in books but never a real maze. And all of these mazes were located just a few minutes from Kanata at Saunder's Farm. If you look close enough you can probably spot us.

Circus act

As part of my next act, I will run across the log without falling into the swamp.

We're going on a bear hunt!

We're gonna catch a big one. We're not scared! Well, maybe Grandma is a little bit. But she shouldn't be as she's the one who tells this story the best.

What do you mean the walk is over? I was just getting to enjoy the great outdoors in the Gatineau hills.

Tiger Burger

I believe the real tiger started golf at 4 years old. Well, I'm

ahead of the game practising my swing at the Mont Ste. Marie golf course at the tender age of 3.

Slosh!

Wow, this is a different taste. I'm used to the salt water of the ocean or the chlorine water of the pool. This freshwater experience up at Mont Ste. Marie is completely new. But I love it.

Not without my ball

While Darius was ready and willing to go for the walk to the beach at MSM, he wasn't about to do it without the soccerball to kick around on the way.

The Hikers

We had a great time up at Mont Ste. Marie this summer as we got to do lots of hiking in the mountains and woods. This was something not previously possible in the tropics of Cuba. What a great experience to hike through the woods for the 1st time.

Clean up crew

Always one to help out, Darius took a moment out from his raking to pause and think about how little he was being paid for his labours.
