Working Hard

And what is Daddy up to ? Working hard, we see. Well, he took a day off from the busy Embassy so we could have a long weekend up on this beach. So 3 cheers for him.

Shell Search

It was almost like an Easter egg hunt, but without the melted chocolate. We came up with some really neat stuff to take back to Canada.

Let's hope Customs agrees.

Los Gringos

In more ways than one. We actually went for a long weekend to Los Gringos Resort, a secluded beach with only 3 Cabanas. The Belgian owner was a fine chef with spectacular breakfasts, including - you guessed it -Waffles.

Dia de las Madres

In the Dominican, Mother's Day is pretty special. In such a family oriented culture, you can never forget your mother. Are these

pretty flowers? Smell pretty nice.

Maestro Touch

After the exams were done, the fun began and we had a surprise birthday cake for Maestro Maximo. Well deserved indeed for the man who makes the school tick. Here he is sharing a little bit of icing with me.

Team Effort

What a turnover for exam day! Every student at every level was put through the exam and most passed with flying belts.

Crack & Split

Just like a pro! The timing, precision and targeting was perfecto!

My Turn

I'll show you Darius how a kick is supposed to look. Hah!

A little help from your friends

Underestimating the toughness of
a plank of wood, I licked my wounds
and then managed to break the plank with the help of a black belt.

Kicking Form

What a great photo shot as I charged in with all my speed and directed all my power towards target.

Exam time

This was my first technical exam. In preparation for the tournament, we had to do more than just hitting. How's my form?

Nature Boy

While Soren was reading his comics under the gazebo, I took advantage of this nearly private beach with some great body surfing.

Chariots of Fire

On our trip home from the North Coast, we took a different route and ran into a beautiful secluded beach, with a little restaurant, run by a

Beligan guy. A little bit of paradise.

Getting Set

It's important to make sure all the safety straps are in. But it's even more important to scream with joy all the way across the line.

Elation!

Taking a little bit of a break between zip lines, we got a chance to take it all in, including the beautiful scenery.

We're not kidding!

With special care from our Haitian guides, we tripled up and flew through the air, just like Diego. What a thrill! It was so much fun and so well run, they let us go by ourselves later on. Weeeeeeee!

Final Instructions

What? Mommy with her fear of heights is going to try this. The last time she tried this in Costa Rica, it was one bridge and no more. But with us signed up, how could she miss out on the experience.

3 in the Jungle

Now that Daddy has on the equipment, it really is happening. 7 ziplines overlooking the Dominican countryside. Sign us up.

Practice

These guys are serious. They're giving us some training on how to fly through the air on these zip lines. Hey Darius, I'm starting to sense we're in for a real adventure.

Animal Rescuers

2 animal rescuers are better than 1. With all of this equipment, it kind of looks like they want us to really glide through the monkey jungle. But that wouldn't be prudent, would it. But, this is the DR.

Monkey Jungle

This is really cool, putting on a harness and pretending to be a jungle flyer just like Diego! But we can't really be actually doing it, right? Right?

Forces of Nature

For 2 curious minds, the wonders of nature can sure be fascinating.

Monkey D

Where else does a monkey feel most comfortable than the jungle?

Farewell?

Was this our last trip up to the mountain of Tubagua? We had some good times up there for sure, mostly because of the wonderful hospitality.

Egg Hunt

This was the neatest and most time sensitive Easter egg hunt ever. We were out in the jungle of the Dominican with colourful eggs all over, but the hot sun made sure we had to find the eggs in a hurry before they melted.

Laguna

This is a new addition to Tubagua, our favorite ecotour spot, on the North Coast. This all-natural, fresh water pool provides a little oasis for the adventurers.
